These units are pretty interesting.  Basically it is a sensor and power control for refrigerated beverage vending machines.  If the unit senses no one around for a perioud of time it will shut the cooling off for a specific time and turn it back on before the inside warms up too much.  In lower traffic areas it can save up to 50 percent of the power consumption of the vending machine and not lower the quality of the service it gives.
